Since 1995, I have been working with individuals, families, and couples to resolve their concerns, and develop meaningful relationships with themselves, family and friends, and the community at large. Our work together can help you:
- Learn how to engage fully in life without being burdened by anxiety and worry.
- Develop a better understanding of yourself, and the feelings that underlie your choices and actions.
- Manage anger and frustration in healthy ways.
- Negotiate and learn from the difficulties that can come in the course of life.
- Build a loving intimate relationship with your partner.
- Learn to develop a sense of mindfulness and spiritual connection.
My approach to counseling and psychotherapy balances active, engaged listening with each person’s need for concrete guidance and direction. I am experienced in many models of therapy, from cognitive behavioral therapy to insight-oriented psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused directive therapy to mindfulness-based therapy. For many people, a specific combination of approaches which best addresses their concerns is used.
Here is a list of areas I specialize in:
- Anxiety
- Anger management
- Coping with loss and life transitions
(including divorce, remarriage, moving, job loss, transition from high school to college) - Couple and family therapy
- Depression
- Men’s issues
- Work place issues
- Coping with stress and burnout
- Spirituality
I have a directive, practical approach that balances understanding with support, guidance, and direction. I believe that in order for therapy to be meaningful, it is important to work together create an individualized approach that meets your needs, and is a unique match for your concerns and style. Many people who have felt little or no progress in therapy before, have made positive changes with my active, engaged approach.
